The Merchant Services Architect would be a strong leader who will form solid working partnership with senior stakeholders across Wholesales payments, CIB and GTI product and engineering teams, across the various platforms within Merchant Services. Key objective would be to identify critical technology platform needs required to enable platform architecture runway as we build Merchant services business capabilities leveraging modern technologies and design patterns.

This individual would help identify opportunities for rationalization and deeper and wider integration opportunities within Wholesale Payments ecosystem of application portfolio. The candidate will need to work actively with solution architects and the engineering teams to develop implementation roadmap for the MS application portfolio for driving the modernization and firmwide initiatives. The candidate would help shepherd through the firmwide governance process ensuring, we are aligned with technology standards and best practices. They would work closely with WP EA practices informing Merchant services imperatives, contribute to developing frameworks and guardrails required to build resilient foundational infrastructure for business platforms.

As a senior leader, candidate would liaise business architects and solution architects to maintain overarching view of Merchant Services Application portfolio needs and own and drive the execution of the roadmap to evolve the portfolio based on the modernization and whole sales payments EA strategy. They will set the culture for collaboration, accountability and learning.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

* Evolve and drive the strategy to delivery for our next-gen platform guiding architects, product manager and delivery teams on optimal industry standard approaches and guidelines
* Work with business, product and IT to create investable and executable technical roadmaps. They will help decompose business roadmaps and strategies into well-defined architecture guidance for software development and infrastructure teams
* Work with business stakeholders and gain support for critical technology investment decisions
* Solve for major blockers and issues that currently impact our platform strategy
* Partner in the portfolio investment strategies by assessing and rationalizing proposed enterprise capabilities leveraging different community of practices to align with standard patterns where it makes sense
* Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
* Experience architecting solutions on public or private clouds
* Extensive knowledge of CI/CD pipeline tooling, optimization and automation

Experience in risk and risk control compliance

Expertise in microservices and event driven architecture style for building scalable and resilient applications
* Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
* Creation of architecture artifacts including conceptual, logical, security, and physical architectures and data flow diagrams.
* Act as a key advisor to senior IT and business leadership
* Scope and size technology investments
* Evaluate technologies, vendor solutions and applications
* Work across LOBs with other architects for solution alignment

Basic Qualifications:
* 10+ years of IT experience
* Minimum of 5 years of work experience as an software architect responsible for designing large complex IT solutions
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in collaborating directly with business partners to ensure technical solutions deliver on business objectives
* Demonstrated ability to leverage enterprise architecture principles to develop business strategies into investable technical roadmaps

Preferred Skills:
* Financial services experience with a focus on Banking
* Banking knowledge and direct exposure to credit card processing business principals
* Experience in an Agile delivery model
* Experience with Public or Private cloud infrastructure
* Experience with Domain Driven Design
* Experience with Kafka Event Streaming
* Experience with Cassandra or equivalent no-SQL databases
* Experience applying a micro-services architecture
* Experience with an API Management platform
* Experience leading cross-cutting architectural programs
